Victoria Bonebakker joined the Maine Humanities Council as Associate Director in 1997 when the Council merged with the Maine Collaborative, where she had been Director for eight years. The Maine Collaborative offered interdisciplinary humanities programs for teachers and, during its eight years, received over $1 million in grants from NEH. In previous incarnations, Victoria taught elementary school French in Washington D. C. and San Francisco, practiced law in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and taught law at UCLA Law School. Her “outside” interests include her family (husband, two children and their spouses, two grandsons, and one dog), cooking for friends and family, reading, Chebeague Island, sailing, traveling, and friends. Currently she serves on the board of Portland West and the Board of Visitors of the Maine Correctional Center. Victoria received her A.B. at Vassar College (French and Art History) and her J.D. from Hastings College of Law (University of California).
