Brita Zitin studied comparative literature at Smith College, then moved to Maine in 2003. After an internship at Portland Magazine, she joined the Council staff in May 2004 as the program assistant for Born to Read. In the fall of 2007, she became project director for the Humanities on Demand Digital Humanities start-up grant. Brita lives in the West End of Portland and enjoys baking, studying Spanish, visiting the farmer’s market, and, of course, reading.
