LEGISLATIVE ALERT!

At press time, the Maine Legislature was considering LD 1787, An Act to Support The New Century Community Program. Sponsored by Representative Joe Bruno and a bipartisan coalition of legislative supporters, this bill will provide vital new support for the New Century Community Program, the award-winning interagency cultural initiative. One part of its many areas of focus provides funds for the Maine Humanities Council's grant program. Please contact your Maine legislators and request that they support LD 1787: the extension of this tried, tested, and cost-effective solution to cultural funding. For more information, please contact Erik Jorgensen at the Maine Humanities Council, 207-773-5051.
