WINTER WEEKEND 2007: The Canterbury Tales

The text for Winter Weekend 2007 is Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer is a very funny writer, and the Tales often strike the festive note we thought appropriate for the 10th Winter Weekend in the Council's 30th anniversary year.

We're sorry - the program is sold out. If you would like to be added to this year's waiting list, please call Tricia Hunt at (207) 773-5051.

Winter Weekend will again take place on the Bowdoin campus in Brunswick, from 4 p.m. on Friday, March 9, through late afternoon on March 10. The $200 fee includes two copies of the text (one in modern English and one in Middle English), background readings, lectures by specialists in Chaucer and in English history, performances, group discussions, and a banquet based on medieval English cookery books.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive a confirmation by email. Payment may be made by check or credit card. Credit card payment may be done by calling 773-5051 or 1-866-637-3233. Please ask for Tricia Hunt. Here is a registration form you can download and fill out, a word document.

We have a one-page list of some over-night accommodations in the greater Brunswick area; download it as a Word document or as a pdf form. Also, mapquest may be useful for driving directions.
