Sell your soul to the devil for an afternoon in July FAUST: The Myth, The Memory, The Music Saturday, July 13, 2002 A humanities seminar exploring the legend of Faust - the scholar who sells his soul in exchange for a lifetime of power, money and pleasure - in literature, music, and the visual arts. This seminar will include presentations by a Germanist, a literary historian, an art historian, and a composer / musicologist. Readings will be sent in advance. The seminar will end with a concert of songs by Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Liszt, Wagner, and Wolf based on Goethe's texts. Seminar (1 - 7:00 p.m.): $30 per person University of New England, Westbrook College Campus, Portland Thank you to Perkins, Thompson, Hinckley & Keddy, P.A. and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany for support of this program. Presented in cooperation with Portland Opera Repertory Theatre's production of Charles Gounod's Faust on July 25 and 27. Fulltime Maine teachers (K-12) may attend this program for free thanks
to scholarships provided by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic
