Margery Irvine is a Lecturer in English at the University of Maine and has worked for many years as a Scholar/Facilitator for the Maine Humanities Council. The physicians, nurses, and staff in the Literature & Medicine group she facilitates at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine, have contributed immeasurably to her understanding of the the power of the humanities.
