Martin Newhouse is in his fourth year facilitating the Literature & Medicine program at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. He is President of the New England Legal Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities. Before going to law school, Martin earned his Ph.D. in modern European cultural history at Columbia University, and taught history there and at Boston College. He is currently an adjunct professor at Suffolk University School of Law in Boston, and has published on a wide range of subjects from Friedrich Nietzsche to modern Supreme Court jurisprudence.
