|
| Please click here for a list of libraries that are sponsoring this event. |
| Selected comments from the almost 1000 Mainers who took part in this evening of reading and reflection at sixty-three libraries throughout Maine. |
One month after the events of September 11th, citizens throughout Maine will gather in their local libraries to share their thoughts about that tragic day and its consequences.
We will read excerpts from a speech by Franklin D. Roosevelt and a poem by W. H. Auden to explore the insights these writings can offer us in troubling times. (click the above links to see the readings). Click here to read a short piece of historical background on the readings.
The discussions will be led by scholars and other experienced facilitators using a single set of guidelines for all sites. (click Facilitator's Document to see the guidelines).
Thursday, October 11, 2001 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
