Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan

The Maine Humanities Council is honored to distribute more than $580,000 of funding to assist non-profit humanities and cultural organizations as they prepare for, respond to, and recover from the coronavirus pandemic. Funding for these grants is made available through the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) initiative Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) as part of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan of 2021.

2. Project Support Grants:

Local cultural institutions – libraries, museums, historical societies and others – are at the heart of community life in Maine, and these organizations will play an essential role as our cities and towns seek to emerge from the pandemic and create the “new normal”. The Maine Humanities Council is proud to support the energy, creativity, and grit of organizations around the state who are using the humanities to make positive change, strengthen our communities, and improve life here for everyone.
