Becoming American

A series on our immigration experience

August 25, 2018 | 3:00pm | Museum L-A

Supported by a Maine Humanities Council Mini Grant

As local and national debates on immigration continue, a group of community partners in Lewiston and Auburn are working on a program that encourages conversation, celebration, and understanding. Museum L-A was selected as one of 32 sites across 24 states to host this program series.

Becoming American is a public program that features films, discussions, concerts, book groups, lectures, plays, and other events across the Lewiston and Auburn. All events will be free and open to everyone. View the full event calendar

Becoming American is a project of City Lore in collaboration with the Immigration and Ethnic History Society and the International Coalition of the Sites of Conscience. The project has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the Human Endeavor. This program has received additional funding from the Maine Humanities Council.

Our Mini Grants support a wide variety of public humanities projects, such as exhibits, lecture and film series, reading and discussion programs, symposia, and cultural celebrations.
