A World in Your Library talk
Candace Kanes, a former newspaper reporter and editor, and now a historian, likes libraries and dusty archives, doing research, writing about history and related topics, reading many genres of books, hiking, biking, cooking, walking the dog, playing with the cats, and going on adventures with friends.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a master’s in American and women’s studies, and a doctorate in American history. She has worked for newspapers in Ohio and Maine, taught history at several colleges in Maine, worked for a number of years as curator of Maine Memory Network at the Maine Historical Society, led numerous Let’s Talk About It book discussions, and curated a variety of museum exhibits.
World in Your Library is a speaker series focused on current events and relevant issues, both local and international. Free to Maine’s libraries, World in Your Library gives small rural communities access to experts and the opportunity to explore complex topics, gain insight, and broaden perspectives.
