‘Refuge’ by Niyaz Azadikhah for Reza Jalali’s play about Iranian women, ‘The Poets and the Assassin’.

This five-act play, The Poets and the Assassin, written by Reza Jalali , offers historic and contemporary insight into the plight of women in Iran, a society shrouded in mystery, challenges our assumption about a land that was once home to the rich Persian civilization. The play portrays the Iranian women’s struggle against religious and cultural tyranny while countering stereotypes about Muslim women.
