Skidompha Public Library

The Skidompha Weekly Poetry Circle has met nearly every Friday morning for over four years to start the day by reading poems together. This summer, our small group has created a collection of poetry, thanks to a generous grant from The Maine Humanities Council, highlighting work from emerging and established poets, and we are thrilled to share it with our community! To help us spread the word, we are honored to have several Maine poets join us to read some of their work and talk with us about why poetry matters and how curiosity about poetry can help us engage with the world and each other in new ways. We also want to share our love of poetry with a broader community to invite others to discover a new way of thinking about poetry. We hope you will join Jefferson Navicky, Gibson Fay-Leblanc, Maya Stein, Julia Bouwsma, Jan Bindas-Tenney, Samaa Abdurraqib, two incredible teen poets, Nathalie Paulino and Ori Taylor who are members of the EPOCH editorial team, and members of our weekly poetry group for an informal conversation and a chance to hear some of their poetry!
