"Get Out" Film Discussion

July 26, 2018 | 6:30pm | SPACE

A look at Jordan Peele's social thriller

Break out your thinking caps and join the Maine Humanities Council at SPACE for this special Think & Drink discussion on the film Get Out.

Aviva Briefel, professor of English and Cinema Studies at Bowdoin College, will lead us in a look at this social thriller from the mind of Jordan Peele. Following a screening of specific scenes, we will break into small group discussion to explore the films central themes. Haven’t seen the movie yet? No problem! This event is open to the public and we’d love for you to join us.

Get Out, which was nominated for 4 Academy Awards, blends elements of horror with a gripping commentary on race in America. The film received an Oscar for best original screenplay.
