As it is in Heaven: the Shakers’ craft and spirituality

As It Is in Heaven This program is a collaboration between the Everyman Repertory Theatre and the Farnsworth Art Museum. It will include a professional production of As it is in Heaven by Arlene Hutton, a play about nine women Shakers in a community in spiritual turmoil in Kentucky in mid 19th century Kentucky. The play will be presented to crown the end of the Farnsworth’s exhibition of Shaker craft and art “From Mt Lebanon to the World. The post-show talk will be presented by Roger Dell, Director of Education at the Farnsworth Art Museum, Michael Komanecki, Chief Curator at the Farnsworth Art Museum and Brother Arnold, one of three surviving Shakers at the Sabbathday Lake community in Maine, discussing the Shakers’ contribution to American craft and spirituality.
