“The Lonely Soldier was another theater production of 2015 that aimed to observe and process real-life traumas. Playwright and oral historian Helen Benedict interviewed women who had served in Iraq; this play presents the stories of seven soldiers (portrayed by a fine ensemble of Catherine Buxton, Kara Haupt, Rene Johnson, Dana Wieluns Legawiec, Beverly Mann, Mary Randall and Beth Somerville) whose experiences in the military left them disillusioned, hurt or damaged. This important show, directed by Jeri Pitcher, toured the state and included audience talk-backs at each performance.”
