UMaine professor speaks on Pulitzer novels as films

“To open its Pulitzer Prize film series, Witherle Memorial Library hosted Michael Grillo, professor and chairman of the Department of Art at the University of Maine in Orono on Tuesday, February 9. Grillo, who lives in Penobscot, spoke on several films spanning the decades that have been based on Pulitzer Prize-winning novels, including 1934’s This Is Our Life, starring Bette Davis and George Brent, All the President’s Men with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, and the 1985 film The Color Purple, starring Oprah Winfrey and Whoopie Goldberg.”
